PATTERN: Brioche Knit Style Rug or Throw Blanket

The Brioche Knit Style Rug/Throw is a repeating pattern of 3D geometric squares surrounded by a border. While not a true Brioche stitch (this is a one-sided pattern), the knit is very textured and squishy, making it suitable for a rug or small throw, best used on a chair seat or back (in the same way you might use a sheepskin rug).

PLEASE USE APPROPRIATE CARE WHEN USING THIS ITEM AS A RUG, SUCH AS APPLYING A BACKING OR USING WITH AN UNDER-PAD TO PREVENT SLIPPAGE.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate/Advanced. (This pattern involves repeated horizontal chain stitches, which will probably be new to most loop yarn knitters).

SUGGESTED MATERIALS: 3 balls of Bernat Alize EZ-Wool Yarn (5.3oz, 150g) (Image shown is the colour ‘Thistle’).

SUGGESTED TOOLS: No needles required (finger knitting). Scissors.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Approx. 31” by 23” (79 cm by 58.5 cm).

PLEASE NOTE: This pattern will work with any brand of loop yarn, including chenille yarns, but keep in mind that the size of the loops, and size of the balls/skeins of each brand is different, and obviously a rug/throw made with chenille loop yarns will have a much different texture.

Bernat Alize Blanket-EZ is only slightly smaller in loop size and should yield a rug/throw of almost the same size, but the skeins are bigger, so you might only need 2 balls. Lion Brand Off-The-Hook, Lion Brand Crayola Off-The-Hook, Red Heart Loop-It, and Bernat Alize Puffy yarns can all be used with this pattern, but will yield a rug/throw with smaller overall dimensions. You will also need more balls/skeins to complete the pattern as is.
